Coarse Fishing is available at Fernhill
Farm and comprises of three mature and well stocked lakes. The first lake
is known as the 'Pleasure' lake and is adjacent to the car park, it is
the smallest of the three lakes but is very popular, stuffed with fish,
many roach, bites are always plentiful, however it does hold some much
larger fish including carp to double figures.
The main fishing lake, just a very short walk away is called the 'Beast'
- here the serious angler can try to catch the carp, some which have grown
to over 30lb, the 'Beast' also contains bream and tench. Not all that
deep in places and prone to some weed beds in summer, this irregularly
shaped, tree lined and sheltered lake offers many featured swims including
bays, corners and islands.
The 'Match' lake, as its name would suggest, is where local clubs and
match groups hold some of their competitions, any number of pegs, or the
whole lake is available for hire. It is also available to the pleasure
angler, if not already booked, and again can provide some non-stop action,
particularly in the warmer months.
Fishing at Fernhill Farm is a pleasure, most baits and methods will produce
fish, including maggot, worm, sweetcorn, meat, pellet and boilies. Keepnets
may be used for smaller fish. Fishing is by day, week or season ticket
and night fishing can be allowed, but only by prior arrangement.
Accommodation at the farm comprises of two six berth static mobile homes
which are connected to all the main power supplies, each one is provided
with modern conveniences including colour tv, fitted kitchen, shower and
WC. Set in a very secluded and peaceful location, the static homes are
sited adjacent to three pretty lakes, where coarse fishing is available
all year round. |
